WE NEED NEW LIGHTS!
EMLL operates a complex with 4 baseball fields that are all equipped with lights that allow our league to play games in the evenings all the way through mid-October. The lights on the Majors field were a donation from the City of Madison in 1999 when they were decommissioned at Warner Park. The light fixtures are at the end of their service life and are attached to wooden poles which are no longer permitted by Little League of America due to safety concerns. EMLL outfitted the other 3 fields with lighting on metal poles in 2011 but ran out of funds to complete the job.
We are running the “Brighten the Night” Campaign to fund this necessary lighting project. Having four fields operational allows us to continue to support the greatest number of student athletes that play all summer and fall. If we are unable to replace the antiquated lights, this would necessitate shutting down one field. We would not be able to run four fields simultaneously, thus impacting our players’ ability to participate in games.
Our current budget cannot provide for major capital improvements such as the field lights. Participation fees, our main source of income, are determined based on our annual operating expenses, which include routine field maintenance costs, grounds upkeep and land lease obligations. We strive to keep participation fees affordable for all families and are proud to offer need based fee waivers.
Please consider a fully tax-deductible donation and support our community’s young student athletes. We have attached a list of suggested donation levels, however, if you would like to discuss an alternative donation, please contact us directly.
